AIRPLANE CRASH

Firefighter Rich Rees pulls a pilot from his plane  into ladder 54. The plane was dangling from the wheel on a high voltage power line 60 feet above the roadway. His plane was tossed there by turbulence of a large airplane that had just taken off. Tukwila firefighter Rich Rees pulls the pilot from the plane.
Saftey lines are attached to the airplane.

Rees and other firefighters on the rescue team , along with Seattle, Boeing, and King County Fire Department took part in the dramatic rescue which was broadcast live on national television.

All large jet aircraft traffic at the airport was halted so turbulence would not bring the plane down. Power was cut from the high voltage lines and grounded. The first safety line was attached to the strongest part of an airplane, the prop. Then a line was looped over the wings. With the plane secured the rescue of the pilot took place in a matter of minutes.
